Privacy Policy

Information VoydBites collects

VoydBites does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, payment details, or advertising identifier. The current app does not create user accounts, run an advertising network, process subscriptions, or send likes and bookmarks to a VoydBites database.

Aggregate readership counts

Android 3.0.3 and the website send basic usage counts to a Cloudflare endpoint by default, to help decide whether to continue the science drops and what content to improve. Counts include app visits, public article and digest IDs, the deck/scroll/detail view, and a ten-second visible reading threshold. The counter immediately increments daily totals; it does not store individual events or reader histories. It receives no reader identifier, account identifier, advertising identifier, search text, likes, bookmarks, or cookies. These totals cannot determine exact unique readers.

Cloudflare necessarily processes network information such as an IP address to deliver and protect the service, under its privacy policy. Our counter does not store IP addresses, user agents, or connection records. Turn off future counts in About → Readership counts. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are also respected. Previously aggregated totals cannot be linked to you or individually removed. Earlier app builds, including the separate iOS build, do not implement this counter.

Local app data

Your likes, bookmarks, display preferences, cached science drops, and acknowledgement of in-app notices are stored locally on your device so the app can remember them. VoydBites does not receive this local data. You can delete it through your device's app-storage controls or by uninstalling the app.

Science drops and network requests

The base catalogue is packaged with the app. When an internet connection is available, the app may request a public static manifest and article files from voydbites.com to check for new, manually curated science drops. The hosting and delivery providers may process ordinary connection data such as an IP address, user agent, requested URL, and time of request for security and service operation. VoydBites does not use these requests to build user profiles or serve targeted advertising.

External sources and optional support

Articles may link to original reporting, research papers, and images. The standalone website may also link to Ko-fi. These services are operated by third parties. If you open their content, they may receive ordinary connection information and handle data under their own privacy policies. VoydBites does not receive your payment-card details, and a tip does not unlock app content or features.

Optional Android tips

Android tips are optional, one-time purchases through Google Play, not subscriptions. When you open the tip sheet, RevenueCat processes an anonymous purchase identifier, app and device information, and purchase records to load prices, validate receipts, and manage transactions. Google handles your payment details. Rishin can view purchase records in RevenueCat; no VoydBites account or reading history is attached. Tips do not unlock anything.

Google and RevenueCat handle this information under their Google privacy policy and RevenueCat privacy policy. For purchase-data questions or deletion requests, contact voydbites@gmail.com. Some transaction records may need to be retained for accounting or legal obligations; provider records follow their own retention policies. Clearing app storage does not delete store transaction records.

An existing RevenueCat webhook also forwards purchase events to the legacy Supabase endpoint. Tips have no premium entitlement and do not create a VoydBites account; no reading history is sent through this integration. Supabase processes endpoint traffic under its privacy policy.

App stores and operating systems

Apple, Google, your operating system, and your app store may independently process download, diagnostic, crash, or purchase-history information under their own policies. That processing is controlled by those providers and is not used by VoydBites to operate an account or advertising profile.

Security, retention, and deletion

VoydBites minimizes data handling by keeping personal preferences on your device and publishing updates as read-only static files. Local app data remains until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. There is no VoydBites cloud account or server-side profile to retain or delete in the current Showcase Edition. Hosting providers may retain operational security logs according to their own policies and retention schedules.

Children's privacy

VoydBites does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app has no account system and does not collect profile information, users should not submit personal information through the app.

Changes to this policy

This page will be updated if VoydBites' data practices materially change. The effective date below identifies the current version.
